There have been travel trailers and RV parks almost since the invention of the automobile. Turtle Bay (formerly Redding Riverside Village) was built in the 1930s by the Bureau of Land Reclamation to house the workers who built the Shasta Dam. Maybe your great-grandpa stayed here!
